摘要

Changes in solvent-solute induced polarities caused by variations in solvent density affect excess enthalpies of a solution. When the solution serves as the working fluid for a transcritical power cycle, changes in solvent-solute bonding energies between the solvent in its dense liquidand less dense supercritical fluid state can favorably impact the cycle's energy conversion potential. Energy transfers internal to the cycle caused by changes in induced polarities challenge Carnot's and Clausius's original assumptions that heat energy is the lowest form of energy to whichall other forms degrade.
