Downhole Sand-Production Evaluation for Sand-Management Applications

摘要

Sand production is a serious problem in offshore gasassets in Thailand and Myanmar. It is damaging downholecompletions, subsea equipment and surface facilities,which increases the risk of catastrophic failures. Sandproductionmanagement is a complicated issue involvingall aspects of well deliverability that cannot be addressedby a one-size-fits-all approach. An important elementof controlling the extent of sand production is managingthe pressure drawdown and production rate throughoutthe life of a well. Sand monitoring is a key to productionoptimization, while also enabling geomechanical modelcalibration and assessing the need for remedial work.
