摘要

Lyme disease has been a growing problem in the United States, with the number of cases increasing throughout the past few decades. The disease primarily is spread through a bacterium vectored by the tick Ixodes scapularis, also known as the blacklegged tick (or the deer tick, in some regions). The increasing spread of Lyme disease could be due to a variety of factors, such as suburbanization, reforestation or forest fragmentation and changes to human behavior, just to name a few.
