China's refining capacity surge

The country's independent refiners are establishing themselves as significant oil-processing powers in their own right. They are expected to provide at least a third of China's 2.5m barrels a day of new refinery capacity by 2023 and are integrating into petrochemicals and retail markets. But Chinese independents are also contributing to the lowest refinery utilisation rate among major refining regions.
