Northeast Asia demand boost deferred

A push to reduce reliance on nuclear and coal-fuelled power in northeast Asia could be slow in delivering the sharp growth in natural gas demand that LNG operators are banking on. Leadership changes in South Korea and Taiwan have strengthened the prospect for LNG consumption in the region. But it will take time for policy changes to have an effect.
