Mexico weighs deepwater incentives

Mexico is cautiously drafting contract terms for a muchawaited deepwater auction to defy lower oil prices and attract as many participants as possible. “We do not have a margin of error,” deputy energy secretary Lourdes Melgar says. “We will be competing against other countries tendering interesting deepwater blocks.” There are “important changes” in the definition of the areas and contract terms under consideration at the energy and finance ministries, she says (WPA, 7 August, p6).
