Guyana hopes to rev up the drillbit after snapping a fve-month political impasse that threatened to delay the expansion of ExxonMobil’s deepwater production. In one of its first initiatives, President Irfaan Ali’s new administration is preparing to approve the US major’s development plan for its 220,000 b/d Payara project. Payara is ExxonMobil’s third project on the Stabroek block, where production of 32.1°API Liza crude is heading toward 120,000 b/d following a December 2019 start-up.
