A bright future for Corrugated Packaging

The recent media focus on packaging will not have escaped anyone's attention. Under scrutiny for many years, industry has sought to explain and remind people that packaging is essential to modern society. Then everyone's attention was brought sharply into focus at the end of 2017 by high profile TV shows and, in the early months of 2018, by a series of announcements all questioning the environmental credentials of plastics. Against this backdrop there are great opportunities for paper packaging. Corrugated packaging enables us all to live more sustainably, allowing customer choice while minimising food and other product waste. Despite the ongoing media focus on packaging, the European and global corrugated industry continues to see high levels of growth, and production levels in 2017 reached a new high for the 21st Century [1]. In the current climate, with concerns focused on plastics, we are in no doubt that this sustainable material will grow further in popularity.
