Cybersmart offers even non-customers free data during lockdown, cuts uncapped 500 Mbps service price

South African ISP Cybersmart is offering anyone with an ADSL, VDSL or Openserve fiber line free data, not just Cybersmart subscribers, to help them during the lockdown, MyBroadband reported. CTO Laurie Fialkov told MyBroadband it will give subscribers 20 GB anytime data and 100 GB after-hours data free every month for three months or the duration of the lockdown, whichever is longer. This offer is open to anyone, not just Cybersmart subscribers, with no strings attached and no request for any banking or other details to sign up. Fialkov said Cybersmart would like to have offered a larger data allowance for free, but the WACS downtime had put a stop to those plans. He said the allowance should be enough to help people to work from home, by enabling them to check their email, surf websites, and conduct VoIP calls.
