GDP and the Economy: Second Estimates for the Second Quarter of 2017

REAL GROSS domestic product (GDP) increased 3.0 percent at an annual rate in the second quarter of 2017, according to the second estimates of the national income and product accounts (NIPAs) (chart 1 and table 1). With the second estimate, the percent change in second-quarter real GDP was revised up 0.4 percentage point from the advance estimate of 2.6 percent. The upward revision primarily reflected upward revisions to consumer spending and to nonresidential fixed investment that were partly offset by a downward revision to state and local government spending.
