摘要

In this communication a rapid laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) method is presented for determining the concentration of metal nanoparticles in heterogeneous catalysts. A set of bespoke laboratory reference materials was prepared and characterised by neutron activation analysis, then subsequently analysed by LIBS. Using partial least squares models the metal concentrations could be predicted from the LIBS data with root mean squared errors of as little as 0.1 wt%. The entire workflow is only 10 min in length, and requires no wet chemical steps. This method is anticipated to be an attractive quantification method for any practitioners of catalytic chemistry.
