Persistence is paying off for a bowling club in Bennettswood, a leafy eastern suburb of Melbourne. The work started about three years ago for Margaret Goldie, a stalwart of the club, and former Lady President and Board member. Margaret was given the job to ensure that the club had two good greens. The surfaces were typical of Melbourne greens - a mixture of Poa annua and Agrostis (bentgrass), needing copious amounts of water to keep them alive during the summer heat.
