Evaluation of effects of ecological measures for water protection.

Details are presented of 2 projects initiated in 1996 at the Institute of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Bern, Switzerland, studying the effects of ecological measures taken in accordance with the Swiss Federal Law on Agriculture (Article31b) aimed at reducing the excess phosphorus and nitrogen loading of waters from agriculture. The first phase of the national and regional projects is due to run until 1999, and a continuation of the study is planned until 2005.
