A study was conducted on the physiological maturity in four mungbean cultivars (K-851, HUM-2, Asha and HUM-6) during kharif 2006. The experiment was aimed at quality seed production in terms of its physiological maturity. Pods of various stages of maturity at different harvest dates were used for the study. Seeds obtained from pods of 25 days after anthesis recorded maximum dry weight, vigour index mass and 100-seed weight. Both early and delayed harvest recorded reduced quality of seeds in this crop. The variety Asha was found to be most responsive for all the parameters studied for physiological maturity at 25 days after anthesis.
