Total sales tonnages are satisfactory, in the United States, but customers are cautious, as transaction prices fall. Buyers prefer to purchase ex-stock, from mill depots and master distributors, rather than committing to orders for new production. Alloy surcharges continue to decline. Selling values are stable, in South Korea. Small price cuts were recorded, in Taiwan, despite the mills’ efforts to achieve rollover fi gures. The downward trend in Chinese domestic prices is driven, mainly, by weak end-user demand.
