Tire dealers acquire more GCR assets MCCARTHY TIRE SERVICE ADDS 16 LOCATIONS

In the span of about three months,GCR Tires & Service,a division of Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations LLC,has sold 78 stores and retread plants in the U.S.The latest buyer is a repeat customer: McCarthy Tire Service Co.Inc.The Pennsylvania-based tire dealer is buying 13 more stores,plus three GCR retread plants.The deal is expected to close in mid-August.In 2017 McCarthy Tire Service bought six GCR locations in Maryland,Pennsylvania and New York.In the latest sale,McCarthy Tire Service will buy all of GCR's remaining locations in three states: Virginia,North Carolina and South Carolina.Here's a rundown of the cities.In Virginia,there are stores in Charlottesville,Roanoke,Harrisonburg,Norfolk,Richmond,Fredericksburg and Newport News.In North Carolina the stores are located in Wilkesboro and Wilson.The South Carolina stores are in Spartanburg,Summerville,Newberry and Easley.The retread facilities are located next door to the stores in Richmond,Va.,and Easley,S.C.;there's a standalone retread shop in Roanoke,Va.”We are excited to expand our service network in the Carolinas and Virginia,”said John McCarthy Jr.,president of McCarthy Tire Service,the seventh-largest commercial tire dealer and eighth-largest retreader in the U.S.
