Health and nutritional claims made on foods labelled and advertised within the European Community are discussed, with particular reference to different food categories. Specific topics considered include: classic foods; functional foods; food supplements; addition of vitamins and minerals and other substances to foods; foods for particular nutritional uses; novel foods; and nutritional and health claims made for foods.
