An electronic ballast for 35W high intensity discharge lamps

The High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamp has been widely used because of its high luminous efficiency, long life, and high colour rendering. Our company has also commercialized ballast 70W, 100W, and 150W HID lamps. This time, we have developed an electronic ballast for 35W HID lamps that has many applications. Although this lamp is for automobiles, we have developed it considering many other applications except automobiles. This ballast can meet various application needs such as those for AC input and DC input and can function to light the lamp in synchronization with external signals. The 35W lamp requires a special control for lighting because its internal pressur of the lamp at ordinary temperature is high. In case of the AC input, it must meet the Class C requirements of IEC Standard 1000-2, and with one switch, it realizes both power control and harmonics reduction.
