International Volunteering with ABV: Helping communities Help Themselves

摘要

The aim of this paper is to present an overview of Australia's international volunteer development efforts. It will additionally introduce a number of Australian volunteer sending agencies, with a focus on ABV, and details of how those within the professional agricultural science community can help developing communities help themselves. As global citizens, we all have a responsibility to contribute to the welfare of others, at home and overseas. One of the most effective ways of doing so is by increasing the skills base of those in poor - or developing - communities. Consequently, those in need gain the knowledge, skill and experience to help themselves and their communities to become sustainable.
