Investigation was carried out to identify restorers/maimtainers with WA based CMS lines. Various inbred lines behaved differently in four CMS back grounds in respect of their maintainer/restorer reaction. Lines R-42, R-43, R-44, R-46, R-47, R-56, R-51, R-52, R-54, IR-64, IR-66, DRR-714, IR10198, IR 13419 and JGL 11118 identified as potential restorers at over the locations and these lines can be utilized for developing new potential hybrids. Fertility restoration studies indicated that restorer lines(R-43, R-44, R-52 and R-54) were governed by two independent dominant genes. A restorer with more than one independent gene is likely to produce the hybrids with higher fertility restoration and consequently increased yield.
