Mariann Fischer Boel will consider a short transitional period for scrapping coupled aid for fruit and vegetable processors prior to a total phase out. EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandleson has proposed the formation of on-the-ground 'market access teams' to help EU companies gain access to restrictive foreign markets. The Commission has announced plans to offer duty- and quota-free access to the EU market for all products from ACP countries as from next year. Danish farm exports enjoyed strong growth in 2006 driven by a 10% increase in pigmeat exports. The French government has offered 1.5m EUR in direct financial assistance to winter vegetable growers as part of a 7.5m EUR aid package for the sector. Recent poor weather conditions have cast doubtover predictions of a strong revival in world wheat output next season. French sheep numbers continue to decline with a further fall in sheepmeat production forecast for 2007.
