SHD assistant editor David Tran travelled to Hubtex's headquarters in Frankfurt to understand whether electric lift trucks can challenge the more common diesel and LPC-powered equivalents. The fork lift truck (FLT) market has generally been a market propped up by LPG and diesel-powered vehicles. However, it seems that suppliers in this space are beginning to turn a corner, focusing more heavily on other power sources such electric and lithium-ion. This shift is becoming more and more evident - not only are battery-powered trucks more environmentally friendly than running on petrol, but both electric and lithium-ion are arguably more cost efficient in the long-term. Performance is becoming much more reliable too, with more shift patterns now achievable with a longer life span and faster charging of batteries.
