BDA Logistics Innovation's time critical logistics operation impressed our Awards judges in 2016, winning them the Operations SME category. In this exclusive interview, we find out why they're world-class. Kirsty Adams reports. Earlier this year I interviewed managing director Kevin Turner from BDA, winner of the SHD Logistics Award for Operations SME, at its new hub in Birmingham Airport, I arrived knowing BDA was a pan-European time critical logistics specialist, however, I left with the view that BDA is an 'emergency service' for spare parts, delivering silently - heroically - via its Through the Night Delivery Network. Kevin, who collected the trophy on the 19 September at the Awards dinner in Birmingham, described a typical scenario of an urgent order of a spare part for a passenger lift which was, "picked, packed and delivered to Heathrow in nine hours door-to-door. We collected It as normal and flew it as normal to Heathrow at 3am."
