Establishment of a New Traffic Control Center System by Kazumasa Araya, Masayuki Jinno,Kazutaka Iwane, Kenichi Sahara, Masahiro Nishioka, Katsuyuki Suzuki, Mitsuhiro Okano,Katsuhiro Hashino Following the trends of society, traffic control center systems are facing aperiod of tremendous change, and new systems have had to be developed in response. In addition toproviding a more sophisticated signal control function than that of conventional systems, this newsystem incorporates various new subsystems which provide information to on-board equipment andgive priority to public vehicles, vehicle operation management and the reduction of traffic problems.Furthermore, operational capabilities (such as those in central display panels and user interfaceequipment) have become more sophisticated, resulting in a more diverse range of traffic informationbeing provided. These innovations, together with the networking of the entire system, have beendesigned to achieve integrated traffic management. The Hyogo Prefectural Police Departmentintroduced this new traffic control center system from fiscal 1996 to 1997.
