Development of Broadband Access Networking Products - by Nobuyuki Tanaka, Masanori Uda, Yukio Honda Kikaku Tokumaru, Takehumi Shimoguchi, Kazuki Sogabe, Toshihiro Nakae, Yuuki Shimoda, Shigenori Takaki, Masayoshi Yamano, Gen Morikawa, Hisashi Tanji, Kouji Niikura, Hiroyuki Takamori, Katsuyuki Aihara and Masakazu Takami - In order to implement the ADS architecture of the broadband access networking technology, Sumitomo Electric Industries (SEI) considered application of a system that uses two kinds of media (H-PCF fiber and UTP cable) and developed a pole switch, a customer premise media converter, and a drop cable. SEI carried out the field tests of these products under the guidance of Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc., and obtained satisfactory results. The newly developed products will expand the range of SEI's access networking products and will contribute to construction of the broadband networks.
