EU biofuel policy uncertainty could continue beyond 2014

The "lack of clarity" surrounding EU biofuels policy will continue beyond the European Parliamentary elections in 2014 and this will have a negative effect on industry investment and prices, according to Dr Christoph Berg, managing director of FO Licht. "The political impasse [in the EU] will weigh on European fuel ethanol investment, and duty free non-fuel imports will keep prices under pressure," he told the FO Licht World Ethanol and Biofuels conference in Munich last week.
