Conditions improve for US crops but rains exacerbate EU quality concerns

More favourable weather conditions in the US have led to improved prospects for the harvests of the major crops there, while continued wet weather in north central Europe may lead to quality declines for wheat and rapeseed. In the US, rains were rather limited in the Plains last week, and favoured east central and far southwestern areas with only minor harvest delays noted for winter wheat. Meanwhile, abundant rains in the central and eastern Midwest maintained some wetness which increased quality declines and harvest delays of soft red wheat there.
