While Europe may be divided over the commercial cultivation of biotech crops the developing world continues to plough ahead with production. Argentina, China and India all made significant increases in biotech crops in 2011, according to the latest data from the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-Biotech Applications (ISAAA). Argentina, which ranks as the world's third largest producer of biotech crops behind the US and Brazil, grew its biotech land area by 4% in 2011 to 23.7 million hectares from 22.9m ha in 2010.
