In the present study, we collected data from published peer-reviewed publications in online database ISI Web of Science and summarised bacillus takes 37.1% and pseudomonas takes 38.8% of plant promoting PGPR (plant growth-promoting bacteria); bacillus takes 58.4% of plant disease control PGPR and pseudomonas takes 22.8% among all the indentified PGPR strains. In plant growth promotion, response ratio analysis showed bacillus PGPR could increase 34% of growth parameters (in yield or biomass) averagely and pseudomonas PGPR could increase 16% of growth parameters, no difference was found except inoculated bacillus PGPR in vegetable and other cash crops when calculated as different crop types (cereals, vegetables and other cash crops) and field versus greenhouse. In control diseases, response ratio of inoculated bacillus was -0.66 and that of pseudomonas - -0.67, the response ratio was significantly different in controlling plant'disease when calculated as different crop types. These findings will help to a better understanding of PGPR and the use of these bacteria in agriculture practice to enhance the efficiency of plant growth and control disease.
