Irish farmers have warned against opening EU markets to more beef and pork from North America, pressing negotiators not to offer concessions on hormone-treated livestock. The US and Canada are currently allowed to ship limited quantities of high quality beef to the EU so long as this comes exclusively from hormone-free animals. But the Irish Farmers' Association (IFA) says it fears negotiators could 'sacrifice' European producers by relaxing import rules in a bid to conclude trade deals with the twocountries.
