British meat industry eyes gains from EU-US trade deal

Meat industry representatives in the UK last week highlighted the potential benefits of a future free trade deal between the EU and the US, telling ministers it could help boost British beef and lamb exports not only to North America but also to otherparts of the world. Speaking at a roundtable event in Westminster, Peter Hardwick, head of trade development for the English Beef and Lamb Executive (EBLEX) said negotiations for the EU-US Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TT1P) could help clear the way to remove technical barriers on ruminant meat.
