Dioxin scare in Chile sparks poultry import shut-outs from key buyers

Chilean chicken exporters face being shut out of some of their most important markets after the country's larges producer was hit by a dioxin contamination scare. China suspended imports from the South American country last week after chicken producedby Agrosuper was found to contain dioxins above permitted levels. Chinese authorities also announced a temporary ban on pork imports from the two regions where dioxins were detected. Pork from other parts of Chile will still be allowed into China if these are guaranteed to be free of the chemical.
