For feijoa growers Earle and Hannah Mcintosh, Kaihere Orchard has been a major change in lifestyle.Seven years ago Earle, a former career police officer, bought his parents' orchard on the Hauraki Plains, 10 minutes from Ngatea.The5ha property had been carved off an existing dairy farm in the 1960s and the farmer had grown flowers, planted 500 feijoa trees, plums, nashi pears and persimmons under netting.
