IN 2000, INFORM-ED (INFORMS FORUM ON Education) and the INFORMS Education Committee established the INFORMS Case Competition [1]. This competition was introduced to encourage and recognize the creation, dissemination and classroom use of new, original, unpublished teaching cases in operations research, management science and analytics. This initiative was introduced during an incredibly productive period for education-oriented initiatives for INFORMS. Between 1999 and 2001,the case competition, the annual Teaching Effectiveness Colloquium, INFORMS Transactions on Education and the INFORMS Summer Teaching Workshop Series were all established.
