摘要

Afforestation of former agricultural land in Bavaria, Germany, for fuelwood production has been happening since 1991. Most sites are now in their 3rd rotation. Growth and yield data are presented for red alder [Alnus rubra], osier [Salix viminalis] and balsam poplar [Populus trichocarpa]. Costs of 5 harvesting methods were compared with lowest costs for the fuelwood chipper-chopper (less than 5 EURO/m3). This machine also resulted in profitability of nearly 600 EURO per ha per year.
