The European Commission has fuelled further doubts over the environmental viability of biofuels with the release of a formerly withheld document highlighting the potentially negative impact of biodiesel. The document, seen by Agra Europe, indicates that biodiesel - commonly made domestically from rapeseed oil — has the highest overall environmental impact of all biofuels due to its potential to effect land use changes in the EU. Moreover, the report finds that "no emissions reductions appear in allcases for biodiesel when compared to their fossil fuel substitutions".
