US President Donald Trump's antipathy towards Iran is too well known as is his penchant for steamrolling delicate issues. The US on Tuesday 18thJuly, announced fresh sanctions against Iran, targeting 18 individuals or entities for supporting the country's ballistic missile programme or militant groups like Hezbollah, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad that threaten Israel and stability in West Asia. This after his advisors persuaded him to defer another controversial decision as he was all set to declare Iran in breach of the nuclear deal. He was talked out of it by national security aides who rushed to the Oval Office to persuade him as a midnight deadline approached, administration officials say.
