Extruder Dies and Function of Breaker Plates

The designing of extruder die is typically important in the rubber industry for generating an extrudate that gives correct product dimension upon vulcanizing.The proper designing of a breaker plate in an extruder provides for defect-free products coming out of the extruder die head.Shaping is a major function of any extruder in the rubber industry and is basically a post-mixing and pre-curing operation.Extruders are mostly used for making tubular products such as inner tubes and requires specific tubular die head fitted with the extruder,through which anti-tack powder is sprayed to prevent the tube from sticking during the cooling operation.An extruder is also used for continuous operations like making car door seals,tyre treads,rubber coatings on bead wires,cable sheathing and in many cases even for small moulded rubber products where the green rubber is continuously extruded and then cut into desired pieces for faster production and also to avoid blister and other defects.
