Real GDP growth in the OECD area accelerated to 0.7% in the second quarter of 2017, compared with 0.5% in the previous quarter, according to provisional estimates. Growth accelerated strongly in Japan to 1%, compared with 0.4% in the previous quarter, and in the US to 0.6%, compared with 0.3%. In the UK there was a slight growth to 0.3%, compared with 0.2%, while in Germany growth slowed marginally to 0.6% compared with 0.7%. Year-on-year GDP growth for the OECD area rose to 2.4% in the second quarter, compared with 2.1% in the previous quarter.
