A function carrier connects in the instrument panel area the driver-side displays and functional elements with the center console. As a result, this component must be dimensionally stable and meet tight tolerances. Long glass fiber-reinforced ABS has proven to meet all part performance requirements at considerably lower weight in comparison the currently used cast magnesium.
