摘要

All high-temperature applications show insulating layers in the refractory linings. Their jobs are the thermal protection of the fur- nace shell and to avoid energy losses. A wide variety of different insulating materials can be found in practice. Fibre-based materials, plates, boards or wool are typical shapes for insulating materials. Furthermore, a wide variety of classification temperatures, densities or thermal conductivities are present in the market [1]. Typically, a limitation is the maximum service temperature, the resistance towards the attack of alkalis and the partially high price.Tab. 1 shows the properties of a selection of three different state-of-the-art insulating materials.
