Flamingo Stress View of the Pelvis

Several medical imaging disciplines can be used to diagnose joint instability, ligament tears, or fractures, including ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine, and radiography. In radiography, one view, called the flamingo stress view or the hanging leg technique, often is used to assess the stability of a patient's pelvis after he or she has sustained an injury. Pelvic instability is a common and significant issue that typically goes underdiagnosed through either technical inadequacy or failure to use the flamingo method.
