Electric Automatic Guided Vehicle for Aluminum Smelters

Being an energy intensive industry with a high risk of emissions, primary aluminum smelters have a driving need to reduce their ecological footprint. With the aim of aiding smelters in meeting their environmental objectives while achieving improved logistics, Mecfor in Canada unveiled the first automatic guided vehicle (AGV) entirely designed and manufactured in North America-the AGV TEAM (Figure 1). The autonomous vehicle is geared specifically to meet the needs of the worldwide primary aluminum production industry.
