Sea-LNG and SGMF study endorses life-cycle superiority of LNG as a maritime fuel of choice

The most comprehensive study ever undertaken to assess the advantages of liquefied natural gas as a marine fuel, involving leading consultants, academics, the oil and gas majors and the leading global engine-makers, has given LNG a massive endorsement. The study was commissioned by the main representative bodies of the LNG shipping industry and has found that using LNG as a maritime fuel reduces greenhouse-gas emissions by up to 21 percent and would be a major contributor to meeting International Maritime Organization emission targets through 2050.
