Analysts expect a stout 158 billion cubic foot storage withdrawal when the Energy Information Administration releases data Thursday for the week ended Feb. 21.
According to a Reuters poll, withdrawal estimates range from 165 Bcf to 146 Bcf. This compares with the five-year average of 122 Bcf and last year’s 167 Bcf withdrawal. Some areas of the country experienced their coldest temperatures of the season within the last two weeks and resulting heating demand will lend to another above-average withdrawal in tomorrow’s storage report, Gelber & Associates analyst Daniel Myers said. “However, the most recent weather forecasts have tamed temperatures going into March and resulted in 100 Bcf less of expected demand over the next three weeks.”
