A company trying to build a LNG export terminal in New Jersey has inked a deal to build a 300-megawatt power station in Nicaragua and then supply it with natural gas.

New Fortress Energy signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement Nicaragua’s electricity distribution companies. Under the deal, New Fortress will build the power plant and then supply it with LNG at a floating regasification terminal with the gas then being piped to shore. The US company will be required to provide 700,000 gallons of LNG per day, equaling 57.8 MMcf/d of gas.
