A decision could be months away, but justices seemed to suggest a narrow ruling that would allow the US Forest Service to grant approval for the Atlantic Coast Pipeline to be sited across the Appalachian Trail. Such a decision might be so limited to the facts of the ACP imbroglio that it falls short in clearing the way for other contested pipelines to cross the Appalachian Trail.
