The sum of nonsingular matrices is often nonsingular

If M is a set of nonsingular k x k matrices then for many pairs of matrices, A, B is an element of M, the sum is nonsingular, det(A + B) not equal 0. We prove a more general statement on nonsingular sums with a geometric application. (C) 2018 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
