Covering functionals of convex polytopes

Estimating covering functionals of convex bodies plays a crucial role in Chuanming Zong's program to attack Hadwiger's covering conjecture. Using elementary linear algebra and convexity, we present some facilities for estimating covering functionals of convex polytopes. Moreover, we provide a new characterization of simplices.
