摘要

Bis-(2-aminothiazolyl)-3,4,3',4'-biphenyl (2) has been formulated by the cyclisation reaction of biphenyl-4,4'-bist-hiourea (1) using bromine and chloroform.Reaction of 2 with benzoyl chloride and ammonium thiocyanate furnished biphenyl-bis-3,4,3',4'-thiazolylthiourea (3),which on cyclisation with chloroacetic acid in the presence of sodium acetate and ethanol yielded bis-[(2-thiazol-2'-yl-imino)-4-thiazolidino]-3,4,3',4'-biphenyl (4).Further compound 4 was refluxed with substituted benzaldehydes (5a-c) to afford corresponding arylidene derivatives 6a-c on both of the thiazolidinone rings.Subsequent treatment of compounds (6a-c) with omega-bromoalkoxylphthalimide (7a-c) gave title compounds (8a-i).Structures of newly synthesized compounds were established on the basis of elemental analysis,IR,1H NMR and mass spectral data.Synthesized compounds have been assayed for their antibacterial activities against B.subtilis,K.pneumoniae,P.areuginosa and E.coli and antifungal activities against A.fumigatus and C.albicans.
